The Schattendorf Echoes
Before an idea, a person.
In an Austrian village, an artist opens her inherited house to the living. The dead have already found their way in. A daughter returns, a public room takes shape, and a painting begins to change the lives gathered around it.
The Postlude brings the Unreliable Editor, Zeitblom, and A Fellow Wayfarer back to their table. The account is finished. Their responsibility for it is not. In twelve sections, the desire to make a life complete becomes a bargain the writers must recognize in themselves.

The literary editions
The current reading set contains a Prelude, three novels, and a Postlude in each language, plus two companion works. The English is a literary parallel; the German uses literary Austrian Standard German. Plot, responsibility, and structural returns correspond across the editions, while phrasing, rhythm, and idiom draw on each language.
The five literary volumes may be assessed as one composition. Publication schedules, territories, formats, and arrangements for the separate companion books remain matters for discussion. The current PDFs establish the reading text; their page counts are not a proposed commercial trim or final production extent.
